TONE

TONE – Talents of New Europe is an international long term European project, funded by Erasmus+. It aims to create a connection between creative newcomers, migrants and refugees with European local citizens and the creative sector, theatre, visual arts and music.
The international partners that collaborate in this project are ZID Theater – City Art & Performance Center, (The Netherlands), the leader of project; Corep – Social Community Amsterdam (SCT) (Italy), Integra (Spain), Odin Teatret / Nordisk Teatrelaboratorium (Denmark) and Residui Teatro (Spain).

The project TONE has been funded by the Erasmus Plus program, Key Action 2 – Strategic Partnerships for adult education, code: KA204-714B1436.

TONE will create an innovative methodology, that will be widely applicable. This methodology consists of three parts, that the partners will create during the following two years: a training method, a digital platform and the Match Making program guide. Besides that, three conferences will take place in the Netherlands, Spain and Italy, bringing together cultural professionals interested in the project.

Core themes

Intercultural dialogue and social integration of migrants and refugees are the core topics of this project. Through TONE we will work on creating new channels for refugees and migrants to get access to the labor market of the cultural sector. Working with creatives from Europe, the aim is to integrate those newcomers and support them to use their skills, knowledge and qualifications in the cultural sector.

We will share our experience within this on an international level, which is used again to define the common methodology. The underlying idea is that the presence of ethnic-cultural minorities and refugees is of the utmost importance within the arts and cultural sector, for the arts themselves but also for the social cohesion of the society in which we live.

Training method & a handbook

The partners will build an innovative training program together, composed of their own expertise and contributions of the participants. The training program will gather 75 participants in three different countries the Netherlands, Italy and Spain, 25 of each country.

Different approaches, artistic perspectives, challenges and ideas will be researched by the different partners. Based on the outcomes a handbook will be developed. This handbook will contain methodological guidelines, about how to start a training with migrants and refugees who wish for a career within the arts.

This guide is aimed at trainers, teachers and those involved in art education and cultural organizations, and will be made available to all participants and interested organizations.

Digital network

An online network will be developed as communication for the project and all parties involved. This network will stimulate community building, knowledge development, intercultural dialogue and international cooperation in relation to arts and newcomers.

It will consist of a public environment, for those interested, and a secure environment for all the partners and participants.

The Match Making Program Guide

In the guide, we explain how to make the successful connection between the organizations from cultural sector and the newcomers.
This is a guide in which we will gather information about different organizations and networks within the national creative field, and ways to connect these with the target groups.

This Guide is focused on describing an approach how to create matches between cultural organizations and people with a migrant background in general.

It is a helpful tool for the organisations across Europe. The underlying idea is that creating connections within the cultural diversity of our societies allows for more inclusivity. National art sectors will be given the opportunity to tie themselves to this guide, while at the same time it also operates as a source of contacts and information for individuals.
