Saturday, June 18: Penelope – by Residui Teatro (Spain)

On June 18 Residui Teatro plays their performance Penelope at the Navas de Oro Cultural Center. The performance is about the other face of Ulysses’ journey. The face of Penelope, who represents “The Odyssey” upside down, inside. She imagines, in the distance, the adventures of the traveler, she suffers it in the distance, perhaps she envies him.

She lives in apparent stillness. Her journey is that of the unrestrained flight of the imagination.
This myth, that of Penelope, allows us to explore the contemporary feminine condition. A woman trapped on her island of solitude, between the tears of daily violence and the longing for love. She is, in turn, feminine sensitivity and listening to the interior landscapes of the body.
